There’s something happening here
For What It’s Worth, Buffalo Springfield (1966)
What it is ain’t exactly clear
There’s a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
Remember protest songs?
For those of us who grew up in the 60’s and 70’s in the shadow of the Vietnam War and Civil Rights Movement, the radio airwaves were filled with prophetic music that spoke truth to power and sought to united us for a common cause.
This week at New Wineskins we’ll view, listen to, and discuss various forms of protest art—music, poetry, and visual art forms—from the perspective of how they impact us both individually and as a faith community.
Join us in our New Wineskins Virtual Pub via Zoom this Sunday, Aug. 9, for what should be a fun and fascinating conversation! And feel free to post your favorite protest art on our Facebook page to share with our community!
Connection opens at 6:00pm (Happy Half-Hour)
Conversation begins at 6:30pm
