As we approach Easter this year, our annual celebration of Jesus’ resurrection comes to us in a present reality dominated by war, political strife, economic hardship, and a surge in the acceptability of hate on the public stage.
It’s easy for us in such times to become either so discouraged that we throw up our hands in surrender or so angry that we succumb to the temptation to retaliate in kind to those who barter in violence and degredation.
But what if we could find a way through our discouragement and anger to find a place of peace in the midst of all that surrounds us…not as religious escapism, but as a strong stance of resistance based not just on our Christian faith but on the very shape of the universe and all that exists within it?
Since the first Sunday in April this year falls on Easter, we’re moving our monthly gathering up a week to this Sunday, March 29. We’ll combine our observation of Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Easter with a reflection from Fr. Richard Rohr on the way death transformed is the universal pattern of everything and every thing.
Please join us this Sunday, March 29, in the Virtual Theology Pub powered by Zoom as we discuss how seeing the universal pattern of death and resurrection frees us to resist the powers and principalities that seek wealth and power over service to humanity and unity with the cosmos.
