Our summer book study on Robin Wall Kimmerer’s bestseller Braiding Sweetgrass officially gets underway this week with our discussion of the first two sections of the book, Planting Sweetgrass and Tending Sweetgrass.
In the Planting Sweetgrass section, Kimmerer outlines her understanding of her own indigenous people’s creation myths and how those stories inform the people’s relationship to the land and our non-human neighbors. Then, in Tending Sweetgrass, she begins to unpack what a reciprocal relationship between the earth and its inhabitants looks like from within her particular context.
