Breaking Binaries Part 2
We can probably all agree that disagreement can be uncomfortable at best and traumatizing at worst. That explains why so many of us have created echo chambers around ourselves, shutting out voices of dissent in favor of the reassurance of agreeability.
But what if disagreement is actually something we need? What if breaking through the right-and-wrong binaries in which we find ourselves is actually critical to our emotional and spiritual development?
This week at New Wineskins we’ll wrap up our 2-part series on “Breaking Binaries” featuring author, pastor, and teacher Barbara Brown Taylor helping us examine ways we can value healthy disagreement and abandon our need to make others think and act more like us.
Our discussion video from The Work of the People titled ”Establishing Who Is Right” challenges us to find pathways of commonality without the expectation of change.
Please join us this Sunday, Nov. 24, in the New Wineskins Virtual Theology Pub powered by Zoom for a conversation about how breaking away from dualistic thinking can open us to richer relationships and a more open experience of life.
6:00pm ET: Happy Half-Hour (informal meet & greet time)
6:30pm ET: Presentation & conversation begin
