July 10 Gathering: Holon

The word “Holon“ is a term from the field of philosophy that connotes that every thing is whole and complete unto itself, and yet also part of a larger whole or system.

Applied to faith communities, it’s a way of recognizing that while each individual in the community is a whole and complete person, we’re also collectively part of something more.

This week at New Wineskins, we’ll kick off our summer series on Community & Connectedness by discussing how we create space for individuals to thrive by connecting ourselves to communities that together are more than the sum of their constituent parts. Our featured video from The Work of the People features author & speaker Suzanne Stabile talking about how making room for ideas with which we may not agree can be a key to building more authentic communities.

Join us this Sunday, July 10, as we explore the phenomenon of Holon as a community-building concept that has implications beyond our limited reach as individuals.
