July 12 Gathering: Can we still be Christians?

The early followers of Jesus were first labeled “Christians” as a term of derision. The word literally means “little Christs,” and was first coined in Antioch as a way of singling out the small but growing sect of Judaism that was following the way of Jesus.

Today, the term “Christian” carries all sorts of baggage. As Christianity evolved from a Jewish faction to a full-blown religion and then splintered into thousands and thousands of different denominational expressions, it became harder and harder to define exactly what it means to be Christian.

As New Wineskins returns to Sundays this week, we’ll have a conversation about what it means to be a Christian in the world today, in America in particular, and in our own local contexts.

Join us in the New Wineskins Virtual Pub on Sunday, July 12, for a deep dive into the question, “Can we still be Christians?”

Connection opens at 6:00pm
Conversation begins at 6:30pm
