(Wisdom Series Week 4)
Our capitalist system would have us believe that who and what we are is defined by the way we earn money and what we can possess as a result. And in many cases, Western Christianity reinforces that notion by promoting an individualistic gospel that pits each of us as a sovereign self against a world that is out to destroy us.
It can—and often has—become quite an unholy alliance.
This week at New Wineskins, we’ll consider the question, “what is really real?” Are we defined by our possessions and status? Or is who we are truly only knowable through the relationships we foster?
This week’s discussion video from YouTube content creators Reflections of Life challenges us to to understand that our lives are shaped not by our circumstances, but by our choices. Is how we choose to be in relationship to other people, living creatures, and the earth itself where we find our true identities?
Please join us this Sunday, Sept. 15, in the New Wineskins Virtual Theology Pub powered by Zoom as we continue our fall Wisdom series with a discussion about reality, relationships, and the revelation of love as the overarching energy that exposes what is true.
6:00pm ET: Happy Half-Hour (informal meet & greet time)
6:30pm ET: Presentation & conversation begin
