Sept. 7 Gathering: Braiding Sweetgrass Section 5 + Epilogue

This week we’ll wrap up summer book study on Robin Wall Kimmerer’s bestseller Braiding Sweetgrass with a conversation about the final section of the book, Burning Sweetgrass, as well as the epilogue chapter, “Returning the Gift.”

In this week’s discussion we’ll look at the ways we humans often exploit and prey upon the natural world, and how an appreciation for indigenous wisdom can help us create a more sustainable future.

Please join us this Sunday, Sept. 7, in the Virtual Theology Pub powered by Zoom to share your thoughts and insights!

New Monthly Schedule!

From the earliest days of our community as an every-other-week pub church event, we’ve lived by the axiom that “Everything is always an experiment!” To that end, we recognize that the season for weekly gatherings that began during the global Coronavirus pandemic of 2020 has drawn to an end, and it’s time to try a new experiment by migrating to meeting once a month (at least for the time being!).

Beginning Sunday, Oct. 5, our gatherings will be held on the first Sunday of each month on Zoom (see link above). We will continue to focus on justice-oriented issues through the lens of progressive theology, utilizing media, art, music, and activism as the jumping-off points of our monthly conversations.

Please mark your calendars for the first Sundays of the month and join us in the New Wineskins Virtual Theology Pub!

RIP Helen Ryde

The New Wineskins community extends our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, co-workers, and loved ones of our dear friend Helen Ryde, who passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 5, at their home in North Carolina. As an organizer for the Reconciling Ministries Network, Helen was instrumental in helping New Wineskins become the first fully online RMN community in 2021.
