(Wisdom Series Week 8)
Many of us in the work of justice and reconciliation like to point to the biblical mandate to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
And while loving our neighbors can often prove difficult, the greatest challenge may remain the ability to love ourselves.
But what does it look like to love yourself? And why is it so difficult?
As one speaker in this week’s discussion video from YouTube content creators Reflections of Life puts it, if we’re going to occupy space on this planet for seven or eight decades, our relationship with ourselves “needs to work.”
This week at New Wineskins we’ll continue our ongoing series on Wisdom with a conversation about what it means to love ourselves, the barriers we face, and the consequences both to ourselves and the world if we don’t. Our discussion video features a number of differing perspectives on why and how learning to love ourselves may be one of the most important things we’ll ever do.
Please join us this Sunday, Oct 20, in the New Wineskins Virtual Theology Pub powered by Zoom for a dialogue about the ways our self-criticism can give way to a self-worth that has a ripple effect across the communities we’re a part of.
6:00pm ET: Happy Half-Hour (informal meet & greet time)
6:30pm ET: Presentation & conversation begin
