Aug. 11 Gathering: Faith & Politics (Week 2)

Does the world (or America) truly have enough resources to go around so that everyone might have access to healthy food, clean water, adequate shelter, and meaningful work?

Or should we hoard and protect what we have because there’s simply not enough for both us and our neighbors?

According to author, teacher, and activist Joel Edward Goza in this week’s discussion video, political and social systems built on scarcity are perfectly designed to get the results we’re getting. Because they demand accumulation of resources over equity, those systems continue to elevate and normalize wealth and power over service and sharing.

This week at New Wineskins, we’ll continue our series on faith and politics by taking a look at systemic scarcity, how it survives and thrives in environments of fear, and how people following the way of Jesus can begin to reverse those trends and create more equitable communities.

Please join us this Sunday, Aug. 11, in the New Wineskins Virtual Theology Pub powered by Zoom for a conversation about systems built on scarcity and the kind of politics we’ll need to bring justice and liberation to those most victimized by those systems.

6:00pm ET: Happy Half-Hour (informal meet & greet time)
6:30pm ET: Presentation & conversation begin
