In Acts 2, the writer of Luke/Acts describes a community where people pooled their resources for the common good. And while it’s often been misidentified as some sort of early form or socialism or even communism by some, what the text really gives us is a look into the concept of Mutual Aid.

In its simplest form, Mutual Aid is the idea that every community has all the resources it needs, and all resources are equally valued and valid.

So if Mutual Aid is among the first biblical models of Christian community, why don’t we hear more about it? And why don’t more faith communities employ it as a means of resource sharing?

Wendy Hudson of Two Rivers Church in Charleston, SC, will join us to talk about Mutual Aid, how it works in her faith community’s context, and what the implications can be for communities to more broadly embrace it as a model for resource sharing and mutual thriving.
