Aug. 15 Gathering: What Will the Church Become?

In her book, The Great Emergence, author Phyllis Tickle posits that Christianity undergoes what she calls a massive “rummage sale” about every 500 years or so.

Half a millennium removed from Martin Luther nailing his 95 theses to the chapel door at Wittenberg to launch the Reformation, most of us have felt the sands shifting beneath our feet for awhile now. It’s plain that something is changing within the big-C Church.

The question is, where are we going?

What will the church of the future look like? Will it even survive this time of tension and turmoil?

This week at New Wineskins, we’ll talk about what new expressions of faith communities (like ours!) might look like in the years to come, and the factors that will influence the future.

Join us this Sunday, Aug. 15, as we tap into our collective imagination for what the Church can become!
