The prophet Amos called to let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. For many in Appalachia, where the waters and streams run out of mountains and valleys exploited for generations by extractive, colonializing industries, justice can seem like a distant dream. Especially when the region’s crippling poverty is compounded by overwhelming medical debt for many of its residents.

This year for Advent and Christmas, we’ve partnered with RIP Medical Debt to help reduce or eliminate medical debt for folks in the Appalachian region, which includes our home base of West Virginia.

On average, each dollar donated helps eliminate $100 of medical debt for a recipient. Your gift will help someone in Appalachia get out from under the kind of debt that keeps people bound to circumstances over which they often have no control.
